Who is Monica<\/h2>

M\u00f3nica C. Rold\u00e1n is a licensed psychotherapist in New York and New Jersey. In her career, Monica has always focused her efforts on working with women, especially Latina women survivors of gender-based violence, trauma, sexual abuse, sex work, and human trafficking. An expert on mental health issues and immigrant struggles, Monica has a deep understanding of immigration processes, their characteristics, and the effects it has on mental health. \nMonica has extensive training in trauma treatment and crisis intervention, using different therapeutic modalities such as EMDR, utilizing the various protocols that this modality offers.
Monica is aware that migration from one country to another has lifelong psychological effects and socially affects the identity of people, relationships, and society itself. Born in Colombia, she is a psychologist who graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and holds a master's degree in social work (MSW) from New York University (NYU). She is also licensed in the Social Work Clinic (LCSW) in New York and New Jersey. Trained in EMDR, Monica offers this and other modalities when working with people. \n<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

My name is Daniela Gonzalez Manzano. I was born in Cali, Colombia, and came to the United States when I was nine. As an immigrant and daughter of immigrants, I struggled with culture shock and homesickness when I first came to the country. Accustoming yourself to a new lifestyle, a new language, and new people is more accessible with the proper support. As a young child, one of my biggest challenges was school. The language barrier between my teachers, peers, and me caused feelings of loneliness and stress. As an undergraduate student at Rutgers University majoring in Health Administration, I came across the opportunity to work with Muunar. I work alongside Muunar's team to continue supporting and promoting the organization and its resources. I was born in Bolivia, but I have lived in the United States for most of my life. Like many, I have had to adapt and figure out my cultural identity and how that impacted my development and worldview. These experiences have helped me understand my clients and carry out my work more effectively. As a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has trained in the United States and abroad, I have come to understand the simple nuances that can greatly impact how someone can cope with things like depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and\/or other chronic mental conditions.<\/p>\n

My primary focus in individual sessions is to empower my clients, with a mixture of empathy and humor, to work together in defining and reaching their goals.
